Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger Appointed to China Accountability Task Force

June 30, 2021

Congresswoman  Diana Harshbarger has been appointed to the House Republicans China Accountability Task Force by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. The task force is designed to identify and develop policy solutions to protect the American people from the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) aggression.

“The greatest national security threat to our country in the 21st Century is the Chinese Communist Party, and we must hold them accountable for their actions,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “Currently, the United States is reliant on China for many chemicals in prescription drugs, leaving us dependent on the whims of the CCP for life-saving medicines. We must develop policy solutions that will reduce our reliance on China and increase our domestic production of prescription drugs. Additionally, we must investigate what the CCP knew about the COVID-19 outbreak, when they knew it, and what they might have covered up about the virus that killed so many Americans. I appreciate Leader McCarthy for this important appointment, and I look forward to working on policy solutions to tackle these national security concerns.”

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy added, “The Chinese Communist Party is solely responsible for the worst pandemic in a century, the tragic loss of over 600,000 Americans, and the closure of countless small businesses. They also threaten our nation by stealing our intellectual property, exploiting our supply chains, and forming strategic alliances with America’s adversaries. It's imperative we stay ahead of these threats, and we need leaders in Congress who are ready to fight to do so. As an entrepreneur and pharmacist, Congresswoman Harshbarger has unique insight into our medical supply chain, and understands why it is so important we protect our supply chain from China. Her work will be invaluable in furthering the China Task Force’s mission of countering the threats posed by the CCP.”
