Harshbarger Visits Jefferson County Schools

Jefferson County, TN.- Today, U.S. Representative Diana Harshbarger (TN-01) visited two public elementary schools in Jefferson County’s School Districtto deliver book donations for teachers and their students as well as to help fill their library’s shelves from her office’s partnership with the U.S. Library of Congress Surplus Books Program. White Pine and Jefferson Elementary Schools are among the 91 schools and other qualifying organizations that have signed up to receive books from her office to help support their learning needs.

Who: Congresswoman Harshbarger met with White Pine School's faculty, staff, and students while visiting with dozens of books straight from the Library of Congress's shelves.

"I stopped by White Pine Elementary to deliver book donations from the U.S. Library of Congress Surplus Books Program for teachers and their students. Thank you, Principal Rogers, Assistant Principal Woods, Librarian Owens, Ms. Phagan and her class of 1st grade superstars for having me!"

Who: Congresswoman Harshbarger met Jefferson County Elementary School Principal Craig Day and Librarian Melissa Hale as well as students in the fourth grade class.

The Office of Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger has delivered nearly a THOUSAND books throughout East Tennessee, fulfilling requests from libraries, schools, non-profits, and qualifying early childhood and senior centers.

Eligibility requirements include one of the following:

  • Full­time, tax­ supported or non-profit educational institution: school, school system, library, childcare or early learning center, college, university, or museum as a few examples.
  • Agency of local, state, or federal government.
