Johnson City Press: Harshbarger celebrates signing of SUPPORT Act

NASHVILLE — U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger, R-1st District, joined President Donald Trump during the signing of legislation aimed at combatting drug addiction and expanding treatment options.
The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act of 2025 expands on an earlier law passed in 2018. The act will ensure first responders have access to Naloxone; continue support for Comprehensive Opioid Recovery Centers; and encourage workforce participation for individuals in recovery, among other provisions.
“This law will continue to provide prevention, treatment, and long-term recovery options for those struggling with addiction,” Harshbarger said in a press release. “I’m proud to stand with President Trump in delivering this critical support for Tennessee’s First District and communities across the country.”
Northeast Tennessee is an area particularly ravaged by the opioid epidemic.
