New Books For Area Schools And Libraries

December 13, 2023

Last week, US Representative Diana Harshbarger’s office provided some area schools and libraries with an early Christmas gift…books. Staff from Harshbarger’s office visited schools and libraries throughout East Tennessee to deliver books in partnership with the Library of Congress’ Surplus Books Program. Schools in Cocke County that received books were Northwest and Edgemont Elementary. Libraries being visited by Rep. Harshbarager’s elves were Parrottsville, Marie Ellison Memorial in Del Rio, Cosby Community and the Stokely Memorial Library in Newport.

Others libraries in East Tennessee getting books, Morristown-Hamblen, Dandridge, Mosheim, and Greeneville public libraries.

Harshbarger’s office has delivered thousands of books throughout East Tennessee, fulfilling requests from libraries, schools, non-profits, and qualifying early childhood and senior centers. To be eligible to receive the books an organization must be a fulltime, tax supported or non-profit educational institution: school, school system, library, childcare or early learning center, college, university, or museum as a few examples.
