Representatives from Ballad Health and Nuclear Fuel Services, town of Erwin officials, U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger and other members of the public gathered Friday, June 30, for a ceremony to present some U.S. Army medals, including the Silver Star, to the daughters of the late Dr. Harmon L. Monroe.
The Silver Star is the U.S. Armed Forces’ third-highest military decoration for valor in combat.
Rep. Harshbarger was on hand to present the medals earned by Dr. Monroe to his daughters, Carol and Helen.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, U.S Rep. Diana Harshbarger's first bill that was signed into law as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023, H.R. 4363, the DHS Contract Reporting Act, took effect, her office said in a news release.
Harshbarger, a Republican, represents Tennessee's 1st Congressional District, which includes Greene County.

Community members asked questions and expressed concerns about several key issues in Washington D.C.
A key topic for the audience was the federal debt ceiling. Earlier in June, a bill was passed that raised the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion.

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger introduced the Expanded Telehealth Access Act Tuesday which will make permanent Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) waivers that allow for all Medicare-eligible healthcare providers to furnish telehealth services to patients.
During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, CMS waived requirements that specify the types of healthcare providers that are eligible to bill telehealth services to Medicare, with waivers expiring at the end of 2024 following an extension by Congress.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – Many families gathered at the Kingsport Veterans Memorial Park on Monday to honor and remember those who died serving their country.
Veterans from different wars were in attendance to pay tribute to their fallen comrades. One participant was Korean War Veteran, Arlen Hensley.
“I had, three of my lieutenants were killed and one severely wounded,” said Hensley. “And plus, others that got killed too, because of war. I was a radioman. So, I was with the lieutenants all the time.”

What is a woman? And what does it matter? It is becoming increasingly difficult to talk about women’s rights, or even basic biological reality, in a common language.

U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger, R-Kingsport, said the Durham Report released Monday confirms an investigation into former U.S. President Donald Trump and his campaign for colluding with Russia was a “hoax.”
“The 2016 Russia collusion investigation had no basis in evidence,” she said. “In other words, it was a total hoax.”

Community members gathered at the Unicoi Volunteer Fire Department in the Town of Unicoi to witness the first-ever ceremony to swear in leaders of the UVFD.
Officials present for the event included Unicoi Mayor Kathy Bullen, Unicoi Police Chief Nick Hughes, Unicoi County Emergency Management Agency Director Jimmy Erwin and Tennessee’s first district congressional representative Diana Harshbarger.
Family members of the five volunteer firefighters sworn in were also present.
