Harshbarger's Nuclear Advisory Committee Reform Act Advances Through Energy and Commerce Committee

September 3, 2026

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) released the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced her Nuclear Advisory Committee Reform Act at this week's full committee markup, sending the bill to the full House for consideration:

China is racing to build reactors while we bury our own designs in paperwork, and that ends with this bill. This week's vote takes us one step closer to making sure our nuclear safety experts are spending their time on the issues that actually matter instead of duplicating work the NRC has already done. I'm grateful to Chairman Guthrie for helping get this through committee, and I'll keep pushing until it's signed into law,” said Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger.
