First District Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger showed real dedication to her elected position this month in service to her constituents.
Harshbarger and her staff set aside materials from the Library of Congress’ surplus book program for the Unicoi County Public Library and paid to have boxes of them shipped to the library. She then brought two more boxes of books with her to Erwin when she stopped by to present the needed supplies.

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger recently introduced the Patient Right to Shop Act, a bipartisan bill which will prohibit gag clauses in pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) contracts.
To compare the costs of prescription drugs, patients often use third-party transparency tools provided by their health plan or self-insured employer.
These third-party tools enter into data-sharing agreements with insurers, as well as PBMs, to provide patients with online cost-saving insights, such as out-of-pocket costs and copayment, regarding their care.

The Unicoi County Public Library received a big donation courtesy of the Library of Congress and U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger.
Harshbarger presented over 100 books from the Library of Congress’ surplus book supply to the UCPL staff. Town of Unicoi Mayor Kathy Bullen contacted Harshbarger’s office after finding out about the Library of Congress’ surplus book program. Bullen said Harshbarger and her staff worked to pull books from the collection for the library, and Bullen herself was able to travel to Washington last month to select some books as well.

On Friday afternoon, Johnson City community members and local officials gathered to recognize a lifelong community leader and servant of Johnson City, Coach Bob May, by unveiling the newly named “Coach Bob May Lane,” which runs in front of Science Hill High School’s front entrance.
May was recognized by speakers including Johnson City Mayor Todd Fowler, U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger and state Sen. Rusty Crowe.

Representatives from Ballad Health and Nuclear Fuel Services, town of Erwin officials, U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger and other members of the public gathered Friday, June 30, for a ceremony to present some U.S. Army medals, including the Silver Star, to the daughters of the late Dr. Harmon L. Monroe.
The Silver Star is the U.S. Armed Forces’ third-highest military decoration for valor in combat.
Rep. Harshbarger was on hand to present the medals earned by Dr. Monroe to his daughters, Carol and Helen.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, U.S Rep. Diana Harshbarger's first bill that was signed into law as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023, H.R. 4363, the DHS Contract Reporting Act, took effect, her office said in a news release.
Harshbarger, a Republican, represents Tennessee's 1st Congressional District, which includes Greene County.
