Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger Issues Statement on President Biden’s Authoritarian Vaccine Mandates

September 10, 2021

Yesterday, President Joe Biden announced sweeping new mandates for the COVID-19 vaccine. These new mandates cover the federal government as well as the private sector and will impact over 100 million Americans.

“The President’s new vaccine mandates are an unconstitutional threat to freedom in the United States,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “This government overreach is nothing short of authoritarian rule and I am strongly opposed to these ludicrous mandates. As we are rebuilding our economy from the pandemic, President Biden has just made it harder for many Americans to return to work. He has made clear that this is not about COVID-19, it is about control. In fact, it’s an executive power grab since he even bypassed Congress. I have always taken a strong stance against forced vaccines and introduced the No Vaccine Passports for Americans Act to prohibit the already overreaching federal government from requiring vaccine mandates and vaccine passports. I will continue to fight to ensure the protection of our civil liberties and well-established rights to privacy.”

In June, Congresswoman Harshbarger introduced the No Vaccine Passports for Americans Act in the House of Representatives. This bill would prohibit any federal COVID-19 vaccine passport or similar system of tracking individuals for proof of vaccination and prohibit the United States from working with 3rd parties, such as airlines, to develop or impose these restrictions. The bill also implements a ban on government vaccine mandates for vaccines first authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through Emergency Use Authorization and prohibits vaccine discrimination in employment, public accommodations, public transportation, or access to federal property.
